Alpha
We're running our first ever Alpha course! This course provides those who attend with an opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed environment. We're meeting at the Brazen Head Pub on Wednesday nights, and have 3-4 people attending for our first group.
We plan on holding more Alpha courses this Fall. Please pray for those who are attending the course, and for our efforts to let people know about our Fall course.
Farewell to Liam
When I began the process of starting a church in Liberty Village, Liam Kinnon contacted me and offered his help. For the past 20 months, Liam has led music for our Launch Team, and then in our worship services on Saturday nights.
Liam exemplifies the qualities that every new church needs. He is humble, faithful, hard-working, and committed. We have appreciated his ministry so much.
Earlier this year, Liam made the difficult decision to transition out of Liberty Grace due to time constraints. This past Saturday, we had an opportunity to express our appreciation to Liam for his ministry. Please pray for Liam and his wife Susy. We are so grateful for them.
Please also pray that God will provide more musicians for us as we continue to meet on Saturday nights.
Updates
Community Events
We've had a busy season in the community. In early June, we participated in the Give Me Liberty After-Work Party, and in the two-day Liberty Village Art Crawl. These are great opportunities to connect with residents and the people who work in Liberty Village.
This coming Saturday, July 5, we're holding our second community BBQ of the season. We are preparing 300 hamburgers and hot dogs.
On Sunday, August 17, we're holding a movie night in Liberty Village Park with a giant, inflatable screen. We're showing the movie Girl Rising in partnership with World Vision Canada.
Please pray for our BBQ and movie night as we look to build relationships in the community.
Church Unique
I agree with Will Mancini, author of the helpful book Church Unique: "Most churches have a general sense of their mission rather than clearly defined and contextually crafted mission." As we've worked on starting this church, we've sensed a need to work towards greater clarity on our mission and strategy that reflects our community and God's calling on our church.
Once a month on Saturday evenings, we are engaging in the process of reflection, research, and dreaming. It's been an encouraging process as we've celebrated what God has done, and sensed what he's calling us to do. Please pray that this process will result in greater effectiveness as we serve in Liberty Village.
Speaking Itinerary
I've been speaking in a lot of churches recently, in Mississauga, Georgetown, Guelph, and Etobicoke. Two churches have taken up love offerings for our ministry, for which we are grateful. Pray that I will effectively communicate our passion for starting new churches, and that God will raise up prayer supporters for Liberty Grace Church.
Nathan Needs a Job
Nathan Fullerton, our apprentice, has been raising support to work with us part-time to help start this church. He's also been working at a part-time job to make up the rest of his salary.
About a month ago, Nathan was laid off from his part-time job, and is now looking for new work. Please pray for Nathan's job search.
If you're interested, Nathan has a Facebook page dedicated to his church planting journey. Check it out!
Liberty Village 365
I've also started a photo project in Liberty Village. It's a great way to get to know the community better, and to make connections in the community. I even participated as an exhibitor at the Liberty Village Art Crawl. To learn more about this project, please visit:

Matching Donations
We have some great news. A generous donor has agreed to match new gifts to Liberty Grace Church up to $20,000. That means that if you make a donation to us, your money instantly doubles.
Even better, the donor has agreed to honor this commitment for new monthly donations. If someone signs up to give $50 a month, they will match that amount so that it becomes $100 a month.
Would you consider making a donation, or becoming a monthly supporter, to help us take advantage of this generous offer?
An Important Message about Email Updates
As of July 1st, new Canadian anti-span legislation (CASL) will take effect and will protect the public from unwanted emails by increasing the requirements for organizations to send out electronic marketing.
We hope that you enjoy our monthly updates and find it useful in staying up-to-date with all that is happening with Liberty Grace Church. We appreciate your prayer support for our ministry as we start this church.
