We often long for something with all our hearts, success, comfort, a dream fulfilled only to discover that it has taken control of us. What we once chased as a blessing can quietly become a burden. The very thing we thought would bring life can end up draining it.
This is the surprising truth at the heart of Exodus 8. God’s second plague-the invasion of frogs was not random. In Egypt, frogs were sacred, symbols of life and fertility. The goddess Heqet was worshipped as the giver of life. But God deliberately used this very idol to bring judgment.
The plague of frogs was more than an inconvenience. It was God confronting Egypt’s false gods, showing that no idol can bear the weight of life. We too worship modern “frog‑gods”-careers, relationships, comfort, control. They promise life, but they can enslave us. God’s invitation is deeper: not merely to remove our nuisances, but to free our hearts. He calls us away from idols to Himself, the only true source of life.
This Sunday we will uncover the meaning of the plague of frogs, the heart of God’s justice, and the greater Exodus Christ offers. Because relief without repentance is not redemption and only Christ can lift the weight of our worship.
Join us 4 PM this Sunday! We meet at 31 Atlantic Avenue!

October 19- Beginning next month, we’re launching a new study group at church called “Growing in Grace.” This will be a space for us to gather together and dive deeper into the truths of the gospel. The group will meet every third Sunday of the month at 6 PM, right after the service, for about an hour; pizzas included! We’ll begin with the doctrine of the Trinity. Our goal in studying this foundational doctrine is to gain a clear biblical understanding of the Triune God, to appreciate how this doctrine has developed throughout church history, and to see how it shapes our worship, our relationship with God, and our life together as a community of faith.
With love,
Godfrey
