What if I told you that you could break one of the Ten Commandments without ever cursing, without ever lying under oath, without ever bowing to an idol? We tend to think we've got this one handled. "I don't swear. I don't blaspheme. I'm good." But this Sunday, we're going to discover that this commandment reaches much further than our language. It reaches into how we pray, how we make promises, how we approach God when we want something from Him, and even into how we live when no one's watching.
There's a reason this command sits right after "you shall have no other gods before me" and "you shall not bow down to idols." It's not random. It's protecting something precious; the very relationship between you and the God who calls you His own. So here's the question I want you sitting with before Sunday: is it possible to say all the right things about God... and still be taking His name in vain?
