What if I told you that Exodus 17 reads like a courtroom scene? Not a metaphor but a real legal case unfolding in the wilderness. The language is sharp. The accusations are serious. The people are not just complaining… they are bringing a case. They are questioning God Himself! His leadership, His goodness, even His presence. But here’s the unsettling part: this is not a trial of a distant king. This is a trial of the God who brought them out of Egypt with a mighty hand. The same God who split the sea. The same God who led them by fire and cloud.

And now, in the dry heat of Rephidim, the question rises from the crowd: “Is the LORD among us or not?” This question is not just what Israel is doing…The question is what it means when human beings begin to put God on trial. Because once that happens, something deeper is being exposed; not just about the wilderness, not just about Israel, but about the human heart itself. And Exodus 17 forces us to ask:
When life feels like a courtroom, who really is on trial?
